Grandparents Revolt

The other day my parents returned from being out of town for three weeks. Of course they made a beeline to our house and to their little grand-daughter. After the usual exchange of pleasantries (how was your trip?/doesn't the garden look lovely?/what has little Hazel been up to?), the claws came out...

Parents - "Son, why aren't there any pictures of us on the blog?"

Me - "Ah... Well... None of the photos we had looked any good, so we didn't post them... Yeah that's it"

Parents - "Hmm!"

They looked at me with that parental look that I assume I will just naturally develop that says 'Oh we're not disappointed. We're sure you just had our best interests at heart. You're a busy man, we're confident it had nothing to do with laziness." Man, I can't wait until I master that look, maybe that will make me immune to their version of it.

So without any further ado, I present photos of my parents Irene and Klaus, and Angie's father David holding what is for all of them, their first grandchild (that would be Hazel).

The Scots are coming...

Well actually they've already come and gone. Aunts Kay and Moira and cousin Hazel came all the way from Scotland to celebrate the birth of Hazel #2, or Little Hazel, etc, etc... Their trip was a short one (April 3 - April 12), but Toronto did not disappoint. We had some of the best early Spring weather that we've had in a long time. We got out and saw the town, shopped, and even took in Mama Mia. Oh, and everyone spent lots of quality time with Hazel.

Below is a picture of Big Hazel and Little Hazel, or is it Old Hazel and Young Hazel. No, maybe Mature Hazel and Immature Hazel. Experienced Hazel and inexperienced Hazel? Oh I don't know, it could just be Scottish Hazel and Canadian Hazel. Whatever...

Look at me at 5 weeks

On April 15 Hazel turned 5 weeks old. The day before (April 14) she had her 1 month appointment with the doctor. It was pretty obvious to Mom and Dad that Hazel had grown, but she had not been weighed since her birth (6lbs 15oz) so we had no idea how much. Well the doctor weighed Hazel twice, because her weight gain was off the chart. After 5 weeks of feeding off Mommy, Hazel now weighs a very plump and healthy 10lbs. Somebody is in quite the hurry to grow up.

Apologies

I've been very bad about posting to Hazel's blog. It's not that there hasn't been anything going on, it's probably because there has been too much going on. There's the visit from Scottish relatives, Hazel's 1 month birthday, her 1 month doctor's appointment and phenomenal growth, as well as her first birthday party (it's our friend Dave's 40th today).

So I've got some posts to make, and I promise they're coming. In the mean time, apparently Angie has put an additional 50+ pictures in the photo album (we might have to start editing the pictures).

Please accept my apologies, and come back soon to read some more stories about Hazel and her Mom and Dad.

Thanks.

Peter
